Hiieko Powers Fresh Air at Hyatt Place Tallinn

Hiieko handed over its work to the main contractor Merko in Estonia’s first Hyatt hotel, where the company built a comprehensive ventilation system.

A multifunctional building in the heart of Tallinn

The building has six above-ground floors and one underground level, with a total area of approximately 15,000 m². It houses both hotel and office spaces. The hotel features 169 rooms, several restaurants and bars, a gym, and conference facilities.

Hiieko’s work lasted 13 months

Hiieko’s work in the hotel section of the building spanned a total of thirteen months. Due to the large scale and tight schedule, the project demanded a high level of responsibility from the entire team. A full ventilation system was constructed for the hotel – units and insulated ductwork were installed on all six floors as well as in the underground parking level. Special solutions were developed to ensure efficient ventilation for the kitchens serving the restaurants.

A separate technical room was built on the 7th floor of the building to house the ventilation units. This setup allows for easier maintenance and ensures that service operations do not disturb hotel guests.

Estonia’s smartest kitchen hood

The restaurant in the Hyatt hotel received the smartest kitchen hood Hiieko has installed to date. According to Imbi Hepner, Marketing Manager at ETS NORD (the hood’s manufacturer), this is the first of its kind in Estonia. “This NORDcanopy hood equipped with the ecoAzur system is unique in Estonia because it integrates several smart device functions. It essentially operates as a small, independent ventilation system that optimizes its performance based on usage, thereby reducing energy consumption.”

The intelligent hood works based on section-specific extraction, controlled by data from temperature and steam sensors. It also features a UV purification system to reduce the spread of grease and odor particles in the ventilation, as well as an automatic local fire suppression system.

ETS NORD supplied the kitchen hoods, ventilation ducts, and air distribution devices.

Many renowned suppliers contributed to the project

Other key suppliers included S.F.P. Group (IMP Klima ventilation units), BVT Partners (Komfovent ventilation equipment), Onninen (Halton grilles), Hüdrotehnika (Isover insulation materials), Systemair (diffusers, grilles, and smoke extraction fans), and Metaline (fire dampers and smoke extraction fans and dampers), among others.

Thank you to uur partners

The architectural design was created by Karisma Arhitektid, and the client was Estma HPT. The main contractor and MEP designer was Merko. We would like to especially thank Merko’s Project Manager Marek Sööt and MEP Project Manager Stanislav Moskalenko for their highly professional and smooth cooperation!
