Saarioinen Eesti ready-to-eat food factory ventilation system renovation

This year, Saarioinen Eesti is renovating the premises of the Mamma pancake factory. Hiieko is responsible for the design and construction of a new ventilation unit for the factory, covering an area of approximately 560 m2.

The same premises, modernized content

We started construction work in July 2024. In the first stage, we installed a new section of the piping, made roof penetrations, and installed hoods and fans on the pancake cooking stoves. Since the purpose of the premises also changed during the renovation, in the second stage we rebuilt the existing piping and adjusted the air volumes according to the new needs. Again, so that the delicious Mamma pancakes would be prepared in exactly the right environment and that the employees would enjoy preparing them.

Hiieko had the pleasure of working with Saarioinen Eesti already in 2008, when the ready-to-eat food factory was built near Rapla. The cooperation continues – we have already started with the adaptation and renovation of the ventilation system of the office block.

The high requirements of the food industry required specific ventilation solutions

To meet the specific requirements of the food industry for the ventilation system, Hiieko AS installed grease removal filters made by ETS NORD AS with a post-cleaning system, stainless acid-resistant piping and high-heat-resistant fans in the Saarionen production workshop under renovation.

“The special feature of this object was that the grease removal during food preparation had to be done on industrial heat treatment lines and instead of the usual kitchen hood solution, it was necessary to remove fat particles and evaporating fat in the exhaust duct. To this end, we supplied the client with a grease removal filter system that is suitable for large kitchens using line equipment,” explained ETS NORD Sales Manager Kaarel Kabin. This filter system removes larger fat particles from the exhaust air, while smaller particles and evaporated fat are broken down by ozone after the filter. Therefore, ozone-producing EOZ ozonators developed by ETS NORD were installed in the ducts after the filter.

Another special feature of the ventilation project for the renovation of the Saarioinen Estonian ready-to-eat food factory was that the temperature of the exhaust air in the production line can reach up to 250 °C, which ordinary fans cannot withstand. In accordance with the project requirements, ETS NORD supplied the site with special roof fans that met the given conditions.

“Thanks to Hiieko’s professional team and our years of cooperation, the installation and start-up went smoothly even in such a challenging site,” Kaarel Kabin from ETS NORD summed up the project.

Another important supplier was Metaline, which provided the fans and roof penetrations. We would like to thank the client for their good partners!
